Turn on the Light

Have you noticed that aching in your bones?
Have you felt that longing in your soul?

For what, you might not know
But follow it

Explore these uncomfortable feelings
Ask them why they’re here

If they’ve come to visit you
Show them mercy and have no fear

For too long we’ve neglected them
Pushed them deeper down

If we don’t let them see the light of day
Perhaps they’ll just
Go away?

Take the lid off the box
They’re begging to get out
It’s getting cramped in there
And the spirits can hear your soul’s gentle shout

Maybe now’s the time
It’s as good a time as any
To make more space inside
To transmute those ancient memories

Gracefully we approach that aching
Thank you for your part

I’d like to let more light in
I’d like to live more in my heart

I’ve got these walls you see
And I have a feeling that’s why you’re here

To let my walls down
I get to face these fears

This is new territory for me you see
But I’m learning every day

When I embrace my Shadow side
My Gifts come out to play

It’s no longer you vs me
No longer have to hide these things

After all, what is a Shadow
Except a place that’s lacking the light

What if I simply moved
Shone a light on this side too

What if everything I thought I feared
Turned out to be my greatest strength

Sure some things are meant to go
But oh what we could learn

When we choose to let more light in
When we choose to let love win
